BGA, Bermuda is a wholesaler that supplies virtually every supermarket, drugstore, and hotel in Bermuda. We worked with them to expand a refrigerated warehouse and construct a new freezer. Here is what Dale Neer, BGA’s sales manager, had to say about Griffin:

From the beginning of the project until after completion, Larry Griffin and his entire crew were a pleasure to work with. The knowledge they brought in making these structures workable, including the placement of doors, placement of air curtains, and types of equipment needed was invaluable to our operation. Shipping of everything required to complete these projects, including panels, trim, hardware, tools, refrigeration, etc., is no easy task. Griffin exceeded our expectations. The ability to change the plan on the fly to better suit our business operation was a big plus. I would recommend Griffin Insulation to any business looking for a complete start-to-finish installation.

Not all our customers are in the food industry! Passion Growers supplies ethically sourced and environmentally friendly roses to supermarkets and grocery stores. Started in 2001, the company now ships over 200 varieties of roses to more than 5,000 stores around the country. With growth like that, they needed a new, larger refrigerated facility just outside of Miami, and they needed it quickly.

Griffin constructed a 60,000 square foot cold storage area for Passion, including insulated panels on the walls and ceiling. We also installed eleven Dade County-approved dock doors, as well as insulated personnel and horizontal slide doors within the facility. On this project we had a special time constraint: Valentine’s Day, the number one day of the year for flowers! Passion Growers absolutely had to have the facility up and running before the big day. We burned the midnight oil, worked Saturdays and Sundays, and got it done.

“Griffin has done an outstanding job helping us build new coolers, from the quality of the work to customer care. They really went out of their way to make us happy, and they did.” – Sebastian Guejman, Passion Growers

Hellman Worldwide is a logistics firm with a global supply chain and branches in 157 different countries. They reached out to Griffin for a major expansion at their headquarters for the Americas in Doral, Florida. We built out 20,000 square feet of brand new insulated floor space, furnishing and installing three pre-coolers, as well as dock seals for loading and unloading. We also installed insulated paneling on the walls and ceilings and wrapped the columns with panels. Easy access was a priority, so we installed personnel doors and horizontal slides. We also performed maintenance and repair on the existing facilities. We’re proud to report that our cold storage is helping Hellman’s supply chain stay cool in the Miami heat.

Goya is the largest Hispanic-owned food company in the United States, importing thousands of food products from the Caribbean, Central and South America. As they continued to expand, Goya contracted Griffin to help them open a new, state-of-the-art distribution center in South Florida. The new center included three coolers with freezer capability and 85,000 square feet of insulated floor space. We erected 110,000 square feet of insulated paneling, including wrapping the columns of the building in paneling. Most critical were the doors: as a full-service facility, the center needed security doors and fast-access electronic doors for forklifts, and those doors needed to minimize leakage. We installed Rytec Turbo Seal freezer doors, Jamison security doors, insulated personnel doors, and insulated vestibules. The facility is now fully operational and serving Goya’s customers throughout the Southeast.

Without any hesitation whatsoever, we would recommend Griffin Insulation to anyone looking to build a cooler or freezer facility. Their expert craftsmanship is obvious.

Whole Foods Market is one of the premier organic and natural food grocers in the US. They had outgrown their old baking operation in Plantation, Florida and were moving into a new one in Pompano Beach. But the new facility needed substantial renovations in its cold storage areas.

Whole Foods asked Griffin to renovate and expand the cooler and freezer spaces at the new facility. This included putting in 60,000 square feet of insulated floor space and installing 125,000 square feet of insulated metal paneling. We insulated not just the freezers and coolers, but the loading dock area as well.

We installed 4” metal insulated panels in the refrigerated storage areas and 6” insulated panels in the freezer areas. The city also asked us to add a 7” firewall between expanded area and the original facility, which we were able to do. Renovating the original facility included several technical challenges including a floor that had to be ripped out and replaced and ceilings with varying height elevations, but this was all in a day’s work for us.

The new facility is now in full operation, with 68 people producing 150 types of baked goods for twenty-four Florida stores, twenty-two hours a day.
